Too many things...

to list... It's been a while since I've posted. School is going pretty good. I feel more at home there now. Today is December 1, and I put up my Christmas tree at school. The kids got to put their ornaments on that we made before Thanksgiving. I took their pictures :) Only 14 days left until the break!!!Thanksgiving was great! Busy... but wonderful! It's always great to see family. And my nieces have changed so much in the past 3 months. They both love Jesse. So do my little cousins :)My dress came in, and I got to meet with the seamstress for the alterations! It was wonderful to know that I was trying on MY dress! Woo-hoo!Christmas is just around the corner!!! My apartment is decorated and I LOVE it! Can't wait for the holidays!Happy Holidays!Much love!

Exhausted... Very exhausted...

Well my room is pretty much ready. I've worked my little tail off this last week. I've been working in my room from at least 7:30 everyday until, anywhere between, 5 and 7. Then I would come home and work on more stuff until 10 or 11 every night. Poor Jesse has cooked dinner practically every night this week. And Rusty feels neglected. Lol. But I'm pretty much done with all of that, and my room looks really cute! Bright and colorful (pics to come later). Getting a classroom ready in a week is a lot of work. Not to mention getting everything ready to start teaching... I'm excited, but nervous at the same time. I got to meet with my kids for about 30 minutes Friday afternoon. I only have 14!!! The smallest class I've ever had was 20. That's pretty exciting. And the teachers on my team are great! They're so nice and willing to help with anything. Everyone in the school is. Gotta love small towns! Pray that everything goes well for me on Monday!Much love!

Yay employment!

So I finally had that 2nd interview yesterday, and I was offered the 2nd grade position! So I finally have a job!!! Now I have to wait for the personnel director to call me to go sign the paperwork to make it official. Hopefully I should start at the beginning of next week. I got the call last night, and Jesse took me to Starbucks with a couple of friends to celebrate. Lindsay and her husband Coby, our friends, live in my apartment complex, and she teaches 1st grade at the school where I just got hired! So we plan to car-pool! I'm really excited. No TAKS!!! Thank you to everyone who offered prayers and concerns for me. The Lord teaches us humility and patience, and He always provides. I hope everyone takes advantage of their mid-week Bible studies and I hope you are edified and you edify your brethren (Jesse just preached a great lesson on edification).Much love!

Everyone/thing is fine

So as far as I know, everyone and everything is ok. Most of my family even has their power back. They are still having to boil water before using it, but that's about it. Other than tree limbs everywhere, everything is fine. Thanks for all of your prayers on their behalf. Continue to keep the less fortunate in your prayers.Much love!

Family and Ike

What a mess. Thank the Lord, I haven't heard of anyone that has been hurt from the storm. All of my family had to evacuate. They went to various locations. The army sent my brother-in-law, my sister, and their 2 kids to Mississippi. My parents went with them. But now the army made them leave there and go to Baton Rouge. This is where they should stay until they have power again in Vidor. Apparently, that may not happen for about 4 weeks or so... My parents are still in Mississippi, and will be leaving in the morning to head back to Passadena, by way of Vidor. They still don't know how their house is. The rest of my family is in Dallas. As far as we know, their houses are ok. But they're not sure what they're going to do. Some of them are trying to get generators to bring back home. We'll see. But like I said, they're not expecting that area to have power for about a month. Please keep my family, and all of those affected by this storm, in your prayers. With no electri...

Good News!

I got a phone call this morning from that small school whose principal I've been bugging. They're adding a 1st and 2nd grade teacher, and I got called in for an interview. I was there a total of 1 hour and 40 minutes! The principal seemed to really like me (he's a talker...), so hopefully I'll get called in for a 2nd interview. He has to put a hiring committee together (consisting of 2 1st grade teachers, 2 2nd grade teachers, and probably the counselor), and the 2nd interview will be with the committee. Then the committee will place someone in the 1st grade position, and someone in the 2nd grade position. He said he still has to interview a few more people. So it's not guaranteed, but it's a good start. He's wanting to hire someone by the end of next week. I would greatly appreciate your prayers about this!Much love!

Not much news

Like the title says, I don't have a lot of news. Still no job, though an elementary school in a small district outside of Lubbock might possibly be adding another teaching position. I've already met the principal, and I've been emailing him, and I'll start my calls when school is over this afternoon. I'm going to become really annoying. But hopefully it will work to my benefit. If nothing else, I go to my orientation on Monday to start substituting. I'm hoping to start substituting on Tuesday. Hopefully that will keep me pretty busy.We had a great Labor Day weekend! Adam and Ashley came to visit us! It was great fun! To get a complete rundown of the weekend, read his blog. It comes complete with pictures! They left Sunday night. So Monday, Jesse and I went to Bed, Bath, & Beyond to do our wedding registry! It was fun. For me anyway. Jesse was ok with it at first because he got to use the scanning gun. But by the time we got to kitchen ware, he was done. I'm very...

Lubbock

I must say, I'm adjusting well. Maybe it's because of all of the rain we've had lately. This is not normal for Lubbock. People keep thanking us for bringing it with us! Glad we could help.Things have been going pretty good. Last weekend was great!-Friday night (a week ago) we went to a singing over at Jamie and Jennifer Reynolds' house. It was a really good singing. We sang great songs, and we had a chance to sit and talk with many of the members.-Saturday we slept in. After lunch, we went to see the new Batman movie (finally). It was great. Then we had dinner at Olive Garden with our gift cards. They kind of messed up our order, so we BOTH got free desserts! Then we went back to my apartment and watched our first movie together there. Any guesses what it was? Their favorite movie, That Thing You Do. We were going to drink Sundrop, but we forgot. We did eat our free desserts though!-Sunday was good as well. We enjoyed talking to many of the members after services....

Things are coming along!

We just took a bunch of boxes to the dumpster, and stored some in the guest room closet! Not many are left. The majority remain in my bedroom. But I'll get to that. I have to have the rest of the place unpacked so I can start having visitors! We've had a little change in plans. Our plan was for Jesse to stay in an efficiency apartment (very cheap) until we get married. Seemed like a good plan. It was only a couple of miles from here. Well, while unloading the truck yesterday, he got a phone call from one of our elders who strongly discouraged him from moving in to there. He used to be a paramedic and had some horrific stories about drug deals, crazy people shooting other people in that area. On top of that, we went and looked at it, and it was pretty nasty. The area scared me... So our elder's son offered Jesse a room in his house until he could find another place. While going to look at a dryer (we had to leave mine in Baytown... It was gas) he stopped by another apartme...

We're...there...

In Lubbock that is! It's been a while since I've posted, but I've had a lot going on. Italy was beautiful! I took 2,000 pictures. I'll get around to putting some up one of these days... My sister had her baby while we were on the plane coming home... Karli Addison Rogers is beautiful! As of today, we are in Lubbock. We just got here around 1:00 this afternoon. We left Baytown around 10:45 Monday night and drove up to Centerville to stay with the Sanfords (we were trying to beat Eduord). Then Tuesday we went to Dallas to hang out and stay with Jess(ica)! Fun times. But then we got up at 5:00 this morning and started driving a little around 6:45. Jess cooked us breakfast! So needless to say we're pretty pooped... So, why am I up writing this blog? Because I'm crazy. Jesse left about 20 minutes ago and said that he would probably come over tomorrow and the whole place would be unpacked. Not quite. I just can't stand so many boxes. I need to be able to walk... And so...
