Update on Mom

Mom continues to be in the hospital and not doing very well. Today a feeding tube was installed so that they can assist her with eating and to administer the medication for Parkinson's disease. I don't recall if I had mentioned it, but she is diagnosed as being in the latter stages of Parkinson's.We felt like this was the best route for mom, since she has not had the full benefit of the medication. It is our hope that it will make some difference so that she will regain some normality of life. The doctors believe that she will be moved to Health-south for rehab this Wednesday. Health-south is good at that sort of thing and we hope they can do some good for her. We should know in a couple of weeks if she will be able to return home or if we will have to place her in a nursing facility. These have been some very difficult and tiring weeks, and I do appreciate everyone's prayers.

Happy New Year Everyone!

I've already got several "Happy Birthdays" from everyone. Thanks! I thought I would never reach 50 but here it is.Right now the girls are decorating the house for the "over the hill" blowout party. Aren't they sweet little "schemer's"?I brought the new years in with mom up at the hospital watching rerun tv shows. I woke up at 3:00am and told her it was time to go to sleep. She didn't argue, but she was wide awake when I got up.Enjoy your holiday!

Updates - Mom / Church Website

This past week seems like one very long day! Mom is still in the hospital and seems to be doing a little better. There was a couple of days where she had been unresponsive and not eating. The last two days she has started drinking a little of her "milkshakes" and started talking to us again. I think a lot of these problems is due to chemical imbalances and diabetes. The doctors are scheduling her this week for test to check for N.P.H.If this is ruled out, their second guess is that she has advanced Alzheimers.Once again thanks for everyone's prayers. They are greatly appreciated.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Did a little overdue updating on the North Main church's website for those who may be interested. You do have a lot of time on your hands while sitting in the hospital.Enjoy!Added the following articles:Blessed Are The Merciful - by Hendrik JoubertAdded the following audio sermons:Are You Ready? - (3.7MB) - ...

Santa's Reindeer

As you know, it is important for Santa and his reindeer to be quiet when they deliver presents on Christmas Eve so no one will know they are there. One Christmas Eve, Santa Claus landed on a rooftop and suddenly he heard a very loud, "Snort sniff honk honk snort!" coming from one of his reindeer. Since he was in the sleigh behind them, he didn't know which one it was. It happened again, only louder this time. "Snort sniff honk honk snort!" Dogs in the neighborhood began to bark."Shhh!" Santa hissed. "Please be quiet!" He went to work lifting the sack of toys out of the sleigh when he heard it again, only a lot louder this time. "SNORT SNIFF HONK HONK SNORT!"Lights came on all over the neighborhood and some people even stuck their heads out of their windows. Santa was horrified. Jumping back into the sleigh, he drove quickly back to the North Pole. He lined up all the reindeer and announced, "We are not going to deliver anothe...

Just a quick Note......

Last Sunday mom fell and we had to take her to the hospital for x-rays. Even though she did not suffer from any broken bones, for which we are thankful, she did have a very traumatic day. She spent about 4 hours in ERU on a backboard with a neck brace. This is not the ideal situation for an 81 year old woman with arthritis. They kept her overnight because of severe pain and she has not gotten any better. She has developed other problems that looks like will keep her there for many more days (including rehab). Anyway, it looks the holidays with much anticipated rest and down time is not going to happen. Mom always comes first! If I don't get around to wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and happy new years I will still be thinking about all my friends.Enjoy the holidays and time with your families!~~TG~~

Back Home!

The wife made it through surgery without any problems. I must say that the Fondren center in Houston is one fine place! If you ever need rotator cuff surgery, this is the place to go. Her Doctor seemed to be pretty smart and confident in his work. He did say that she would hate him for about six week, but then he would be her best friend! I see what he means. She has been in a lot of pain since the surgery. This is something that can't be avoided. Today she seems to be a lot better, I can tell because I'm being gripped at. :-)Thanks for all of your prayers. It's good to have friends that care.

City of Gold - Crosby / Doane

HUG Time! - New addition to our Hymns Unto God collection.A few weeks ago I linked to a song titled "City of Gold" by Shirley Cohron. It was a beauty, and I wouldn't be surprised if she was inspired by the hymn "City of Gold" written by Crosby and Doane back in 1875.I really love the words to this hymn. It describes the beauty of heaven, our Redeemer and sharing it with all that we have brought to our Lord. Enjoy!City of Gold - Crosby / Doane - | PDF | Lilypond | Midi~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~In other news........This has been a hard week. A member of our congregation lost his mother last Saturday. This is the second loss among our friends. Last week a member of our congregation passed away.A family has moved their membership to another congregation. My wife had her Christmas program with her elementary choir. (Lots of after hour prep work)And all the other routine things (work, mom sitting) has made this a week of long days and short ...
