They always have something interesting to say. I love the knowledge and wisdom that come from conversations with old people. And, the patience -- most of the older people I know have such an abundance of patience!
And what I have realized about most old people is that they are really pretty young people trapped in old, wrinkly bodies! Which is not any different from the way I usually feel -- like I'm still about 25 years old.
I have LOTS to learn from the old people I know. I look forward to it!
In the last 10 yrs. or so I have realized that it doesn't matter how old you GET, you're mentally still young -- it's tough to realize that you're really getting older! Almost every week we talk about getting my dad on video telling all his stories -- we HAVE to get with it, because he's diabetic and really doesn't take care of himself!
I agree, I've always been drawn to older people. That is so true that they are young people trapped in a broken down body. If you take the time you can usually find a really fun, interesting person in there.
But, no worries. All is well. He is just falling apart at 50 years old. That's all.
So, he had his knee replaced. A full knee replacement. On his good leg - for those of you who know him, you understand what that means. It happened yesterday morning. And, I know I should have posted before now to get prayers from everyone; I have been a bit busy to sit down at this computer lately. Sorry. Feel free to pray now, anyway. Doc says he will have 6 weeks of recovery. Yes, S I X !!!! At home. So, yes, prayers for me are wanted -- no, NEEDED! And, I guess if you want to throw Steve's name in there, too, you can.
Here is the short version: He has been needing to do this for a long while (months), but one week before the scheduled surgery his other knee became infected and he had to stay off of it completely. Meaning, no work, no leg, and on crutches. So, he had to use several days of his sick time before he could even have the surgery. We weren't sure he was still having the surgery until Monday (the day before surgery), when he went back to the dr. to find out if the infection was cleared up.
I guess things looked good enough for the doctor, so Tuesday morning at 8 we were at the hospital. Everything went well and he is already sitting up in a chair and putting some weight on his leg.
He has his cell phone with him, so if you have his number, give him a call. You KNOW how he loves to talk!
And, the plan is for him to come home on Friday morning. THAT'S when the real fun starts!!!!!!!!

Update: Husband has been walking down the hallway today, using a purple walker with flowers. Sure wish I would've gotten a picture of that!
Ummm... I had the WEIRDEST dream last night. We were all at camp (it didn't LOOK like camp but in my dream I knew it was camp) and I walked past the slab and there was Steve's leg. Just sitting there all by it's lonesome.
