So glad you liked the goodies. We were just so happy for you, we wanted to commemorate it. I hope you all can come to Nashville soon! Anytime, just let me know. Otherwise, I will be planning to come to Houston again at some point this month. Maybe I can help you with wedding planning! woo hoo!
I can now say that I have seen snow. It took 23 years but I saw it. It was nice but I totally understand how people could not like it so much.
Brad did his first invitation tonight and he did so good. I can't even tell you how good. I was so proud of him and admire the person he has become. He has gone through more hoops and jumped more hurdles in his life than anyone I know. But it is because of everything that he is the man he is today. Watching him and listening to him tonight made me love him that much more and realize what a true blessing he is to me.
For those of you who know about the furniture ordeal, they are picking everything up on Wednesday and I get all my money back. I have learned to have patience and to not give up for what you want or for what is fair. Persistance finally paid off.
Hope all is well with everyone and you are safe and warm. Till next time...
heh... first snow? wow. Classical did a good job up there... i couldn't even tell he was nervous. I heard you got furniture, but didn't realize you were mad about it? Does rooms to go really suck that bad?
I thought Brad did a good job last night. I hope that you find new furniture without any problems. Have you looked at BEL furniture? When Cody and I built our house in Baytown several years ago we bought from them. We love our furniture and was more reasonable than some of the other stores we looked at.
Brad did such a great job last night. :) I always love to see reactions from girlfriends/wives/family when someone gets up to do something like that. You can just see them beaming with pride. You have so much to be proud of! :) Are you really only 23? Why do I always think you're older. Now I feel old. hehe. Love you!
I was going to mention, too. I've got some living room furniture and some bedroom furniture from the Roomstore, and they seem to be pretty reasonably priced, and I've really enjoyed the furniture I have. :) Good luck, and let me know if you need a furniture shopping buddy. :) We need some new living room stuff.
Thanks, Amy! I totally need to take time out a bit. That's why I took tomorrow off. Hehe. Looks like I'll have a day of baking and wrapping. Actually, two of my favorite things! Yea! :) I hope your holidays rock, too! :) See you tonight!
Girl after being pregnant 3 times in 3 yrs I read the positive pregancy test and my tummy popped out! We are having Christmas morning at our house, and then the rest of the day at Mom and Dads. What are yours? We would love to see you both and have a little family christmas get together. And on a different note, I too am very very proud of the person my sweet cousin has become. I am very lucky to have him in the family!
For those of you who don't know, this is my 3rd attempt to post so hopefully it will work this time.
Since it has been a while there is a lot to catch you up on. I will try to not ramble but no promises.
Well I finally bought my first set of new bedroom furniture. It was so hard and literally made me sick to my stomach. After you save and save and save it makes it hard to spend such a chunk of it, at least for me. However, it has been a nightmare and still going. Long story short, I will never ever buy anything from Rooms to Go again.
We had a great Thanksgiving. Brad went with me to Huntsville to have lunch with my moms side of the family. I'll just say that when they busted out the guns to go shootin' at the shootin' range we left. That kind of stuff scares me. We went and saw Four Christmases with my cousin and Aunt and then the shopping began.
We stopped at the Garden Ridge in the Woodlands and they didn't have the ornaments that I wanted so we went to another one. They had a few so the next day we went to yet another one but only after we had shopped all morning long. For the first time ever I was one of those people that woke up early like a lunatic to save a buck or two. But man did I get some good deals. Brad got to my house at around 5:30 am and we left around 6 to head to the outlet mall. We finished there at around 9:30 with lots of presents and a few things for us too. We did a little more shopping at some stores and then we went back to Garden Ridge with his mom. So incase you lost track it was 4 trips to Garden Ridge within like 12 hours. Needless to say I am so tired but it was so worth it. And yes I will do it again next year. They were practically handing stuff out. How could I not!
So the trees are up and looking beautiful. Most of the presents are wrapped and only one more person to shop for. It is a beautiful thing. Happy Holidays!
ha!!! I've been married 7 years and we still are sleeping on a hollywood frame and used furniture from people we know! I just can't bring myself to save up my money for that... but trust me, I'd love to have some nice, NEW bedroom furniture. I'm glad you're an early shopper, I'm not... I stay away from crowds... they stress me :-)
sounds great to me. my son just bought a pottery barn chest of drawers and plans on building a bed to go with it. I think the sticker shock of the chest was his incentive to get busy wood working. First furniture is a momenteous time. Enjoy. And enjoy all the holidays to come.
Wow good shopping! I have never gone shopping on Black Friday. I hate crowds and long lines. :) I'm jealous you're almost done with your Christmas gifts. I'm having the hardest time this year!
One thing I miss about living in Houston is getting to shop at several of the same kind of store. If you don't find it at Wal-mart or Target or Kmart here, that's all there is.
6 am is not early ... we were out at 4 am! :) The places we went were literally handing stuff out - Penney's had free snowglobes, Old Navy had free MP3 players, and Shoe Carnival had free $10 off coupons!
Rooms to Go...NEVER. I had my first furniture buying experience there. Like yours, it wasn't good. It turned into a bit of a nightmare. i finally had to demand my money back and bought for a local furniture store. I hope things get sorted out.
I didn't get a chance to talk to y'all yesterday. We missed you Sunday morning (in class, especially - a lot of people were out). I hope the rest of aunts/cousins weekend went well!
That compliment about my mom's hair means a lot, coming from you!!!! BTW- last year was the 1st time I went shopping with my bro and sis-in-law on "Black Friday" and we had the best time. We went again this year and got some more great deals- Nick even went this time! I agree, when they're practically 'handing the stuff out' it's a great time to go shopping for Christmas presents!
...everything that was planned all in one weekend. It seems like most of the time I just shoot the breeze and never really have "plans". Not this weekend.
It started on Monday with baking cookies for the class at the hospital. Brad and I tried really hard but they were the most ugly halloween cookies I have ever seen. So Tuesday I baked more. Trying to keep the theme of breast cancer awareness, I made pink ribbon cookies. They were no R.J. Goodies cookies but they worked. After all of that, the class got cancelled and I got left with all of the cookies. Thankfully, some people at church were gracious enough to take them off of my hands.
Friday night Anna Bradley got married. It was a beauitful wedding but man was it a long day. I got there around 1:00 to do hair. I think I ended up doing like 7 heads of hair! The ceremony was beautiful, the food was delicious, the slideshow was hilarious and they had a photo booth there. Yes, an old time like carnival one! It was great.
Saturday was the fashion show at the hospital and Brad had a softball tournament in Crosby for Sacred Selections. Project Pink raises money for breast cancer research. My grandmother was a model and she did a wonderful job, so I was told. I was there to do hair and makeup and then back to work I went. That night Brad and I went to a 70's surprise birthday party. We had so much fun dressing up, unforunatly we looked ridiculous. We left at around 8:45 cause we were so exhausted. Came home and baked muffins for a brunch for after church. To top the day off, Brad got a flat tire. So there we were, past the point of exhaustion, trying to change a flat tire at 11:00. And by we I mean Brad was changing it. Or trying to. Something about wrong parts or I have no idea. Anyhow, he finished it up this afternoon.
Today our gospel meeting started. David Smitherman really impressed me and I am looking forward to the rest of the week. It was also so encouraging to see so many in attendance this morning. People were actually sitting next to each other and not scattered everywhere. The singing, class and sermon were very uplifting. It was just a great service all around. I wish every time we assembled it was like that.
Now that I have rambled on forever...I hope everyone is well and have a wonderful week!
Hey Amy--Mrs. Krumrei here...I linked to you as I was curious who you know in our family. So happy to see that you are well and happy in the Lord. I have heard Bro. Smitherman many times--Sounds like you are very busy..I appreciate your work for breast cancer. I am a survivor-went through treatments this time last year. Take care...
Hey Amy! I do plan on answering your tag! I haven't posted in so long that I decided to post some pics. The "Tag" will be my nect Pleo project! How are you? Looks like you are staying busy! Hope we can see yall during the upcoming holidays! Love you!
Looking forward to tonight! Um, and by the way, it's been over a month since you posted. I just wanted to make sure you're aware. Hehe. :) See you soon!
1) you could write in Microsoft Word and then just cut and paste so you don't have to worry about losing the info or 2) Sometimes if it messes up when you post you can just press the back button on the browser and the info is still there. (you may have already known that) Even if it won't post, you could then cut and paste into WORD for later use. At least that way, you don't get to the end and feel all has been in vain as your work is lost. I know how that feels. Very discourging. But I encourage you to keep at it. God Bless.
We never know when our father is going to call us home.
We have lost so many in the past few months. Last night we lost another brother in Christ, Virgil Ray.
I have sat here typing and erasing for about 20 minutes now trying to find the right words to say. Needless to say, I still haven't found them yet.
There is so much pain and grieving happening right now and it just hurts my heart. In class tonight our teacher was talking ahout how we can be a teacher and how so many times in our lives we are given opportunities to preach and teach and so often we pass them up. For me, it is fear. Fear that worse case they will reject me or best case they listen and then ask a question that I can't answer. I have been thinking about the hymn This World is not My Home. We get stuck in a routine of just singing to sing and not singing to praise God and reflect on the words of the song.
"This world is not my home I'm just a passing through. My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue..."
We don't know when our time on this earth will end. We need to live each day as it was our last. I need to stop being so afraid to say the wrong thing to the wrong person and start acting like the christian that I was put on this earth to be, to teach. You never know when a few words may change where a person spends their eternity.
Very good thoughts. The fear of rejection and fear of not knowing what to say are what keep most of us from saying what we should. I'm still not the best at it, but experience and lots of study definitely make it easier.
it seems like when people are looking for Him, our words of encouragement and intelligence are not as important as the love in our hearts for their soul and our Lord. That takes the pressure off of us and gives the deserved respect to the Gospel and the grace of God.
