I guess the winter makes you laugh a little slower,
Makes you talk a little lower about the things you could not show her
And its been a long December and there's reason to believe
Maybe this year will be better than the last

Well it's been a great year.

On Friday I'm heading back to Houston, then to Beeville on Saturday for Asham's wedding! Then on Sunday, hopefully, the Alief church will be able to meet at our building for the first time in... almost a month? Gosh.

Anyway, happy new year!
(close enough)

love is a moveable feast 12-09-08 01:51pm CST
the alief congregation is not meeting at our building this week, since repairs are being done on the roof (hurricane damage)

the elders encouraged us to have small group studies on wednesday night, and to meet with other congregations on sunday. here are my plans:

wednesday-meet with a few friends at their house. nathan and i are preparing the study.
sunday am-go to bellaire. sit beside mrs. banks, upon request :)
sunday pm-visit an arabic church. in addition to the edification, it should be a really neat experience and give me a chance to practice my arabic!
moesweet that sound great
laughing_eyes:)
ladyinwaitingwhen you sit with mrs. banks you get to color.
littlebitty624arabic...that'll be interesting...

Run, neon tiger there's a lot on your mind
They promised just to pet you, but don't you let 'em get you
Away, away, oh run
Under the heat of the southwest sun...

I don't wanna be kept, I don't wanna be caged...
'Cause I don't wanna go back
I want the new day and age

laughing_eyesrun, run as fast as you can

I have decided that I can tolerate an Obama presidency... 11-03-08 09:25pm CST
as long as Will Smith plays him in the movie ;)

Seriously though, as Christians there are so many things which impact us in greater and more direct ways than who the President is.

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.... Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience.... Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed. Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. (Rom 13:1,5,7,8)
natebvery good thoughts!! thank you
ladyinwaitingnice.
preacherdavetxI lump them in as qualified by the phrase "in very damaging and destructive ways". I have no problem with philosophy or sociology being taught in schools as long as it is done openly and appropriately. However, from personal experience, I can say that is certainly not always the case. All four things I listed there (and it was not an exhaustive list by any means), are all qualified by the phrase "in very damaging and destructive ways". Aspects of sexuality and intolerance I believe can be appropriately taught in school; but there are also inappropriate things and ways which those subjects can be taught.
preacherdavetxThe "public school" portion is just an amplified example of leaving the "schooling" of one's children up to the world. The overriding theme of the article is that parents have the responsibility to be schooling - teaching, training, disciplining - their children. It's their God given responsibility, and not one to be passed on to any other institution.
adampuallol...why didn't i think of a counterattack??
iheartshoesThanks Matt.
cmvermonttroxel and i are interested about the last post :)
laughing_eyeshi there!
gsloverBut the LORD is in His holy temple. Let all the earth keep silence before Him." (Habakkuk 2:20 NKJV) God is in control!
littlebitty624very true, and i hope we're wrong about him.
wgdwhenwecome4uVery good thoughts to remember! Even though many of us are not extremely thrilled with the elections, we have to remember that God is the One who is always in control and we do have to obey our earhtly authorities (so long as it's not in contrast with God's Word). God will get us through everything. :-)
wife_of_burtgood thoughts!
wife_of_burt...and thanks for the super SWEET birthday card for Addison. You're so stinkin' thoughtful. You are really gonna make a great husband and daddy one day! You're already on the right track so you're well ahead of the game! :)
bestbuymani love the message you got. Make sure you contact the IT department and let them know you want them to allow this website and that they should all be your cronies.

if i can take one enjoyable class per semester, i'll be happy 10-07-08 04:05pm CST
i am now minoring in "world cultures and literatures" because it's the closest thing UH has to "arabic studies".

some classes i plan to take (you basically create a proposal for your area of emphasis and run it by the program director):
*arabic (i'm in my third semester right now)
*political terrorism
*economics of development
*world cultures through literature and the arts
and a couple of other required classes

this should be enough to give me one "fun" class per semester for the rest of my college career.
i have decided that contentment applies to academics as well :)

laughing_eyesexcellent plan!
wgdwhenwecome4uwoah! Your classes sound extremely difficult! Would take someone with brains like you and unlike me to conquer those! Good luck and have fun with it :-)
adampuali wish i could go back and take all fun classes.
tnerbydoomBible Desktop is really similar to macsword. I think they might be the same. I downloaded both a week ago, and couldn't see much difference. I'm still figuring out BD though. Do you know if any hot keys that allow you to copy a verse directly into a pages file or comment like this?
wife_of_burtummm, maybe you should come here in a few weeks and feel free to bring along any fc dorks of your choosing ;) and you can get my reaction to that last statement in person! :) BTW, it was waaay to early for me to call when I read it initially, but I'm guessing you know it makes me SMILE!
wife_of_burtheeyy, easy with the name calling, you could get us in trouble, you made me do it in reply without even noticing it until now! ;)
indianajoannasome of my classes could be "fun"....but they're not.
