Happy New Year! 01-01-09 11:44pm CST

Excited in 2009 about: Gaining 150 new kids. Moving to Kingwood. Getting married by my brother to the love of my life. Finally getting paid to do what I love. Taking an awesome and much needed vacation.
bonnyswanGood luck with the teaching! I know you will be busy!

Interesting thoughts on leaving tips during tough financial times. The example about the guy at the end makes me want to punch something. Some people are so socially impaired.

As soon as I get around to it, I'll load up a few pictures from graduation. The entire ceremony went by so fast, even though my group was the largest of the three different ceremonies. It's such a weird feeling - to be officially done with college. I wish I had planned to start grad school in January, but I had no idea how quickly my plans would change. Oh well...August will suffice. By that time I can save money and maybe not have to take out a loan right away.

For some reason, the only day of the week that I can take naps on is Sunday. After lunch, I can lay down and sleep for up to 5 hours and still sleep later that night. I've read tons of articles saying that it's impossible to ever 'catch up on sleep', but I'm pretty sure that's what my body is doing. Also, Sundays seem to be the only day of the week that my normally lactose intolerant self can handle a huge glass of chocolate milk. It's one of the truly refreshing drinks to me that I crave. That and an ice-cold glass of water. Boring, huh?

I only have two people left on my shopping list, both being future in-laws. Truly, I have fabulous in-laws. We might not agree all the time on everything, but they're supportive in every way and are decent, hard-working people who give their time continuously. For example, 5 of them showed up to my graduation! Later when we all went to lunch, I thought we were going to have a duel over the check. They absolutely would not let my parents pay. My mom had to shove money in the waitress' hand discreetly, and she had to find a way to shove money back into my mother-in-law's hands. Ahh...good-hearted Texans*.

Happy holidays! Enjoy some time off, if you get it, and remember that the best gifts cannot be wrapped. Well, I guess they could, but why waste all that paper and tape? :)

* = You know you've met a 'good-hearted Texan' when at a stop sign you wave each other on 3 times, both go at the same time, stop, smile, wave each other on again simultaneously, and finally give a look that says "I'm gonna wait here all day until you go first!"
caseymp3That guy stole Kramer's method of tipping... that story is bootleg, it stole from Seinfeld... but a agree with that, I only tip when people do a good job, if they don't, if i'm left wanting a drink and dont' get one, i don't tip well. A tip is a tip, if they can't cut it, they don't deserve to make more money than most other people in their place in life. The truth is that a good restaurant with tips equals a good paying job, and if they can't cut it, i'm not going to encourage them to keep doing it.
caseymp3oh, and congrats on the graduation.
bonnyswanyeah, we feel that if we eat out, we tip them like always. sometimes a little extra.
heidixGuess I missed that episode...hopefully that means that someone didn't actually do that in real life.
mjintexasInteresting blog link. I"m not sure I understand what she means about not tipping the hair stylist or whatever... just at Christmas, or anytime? I don't tip extra at Christmas.

Congrats on graduation and on the new job! YAAAAAAY! You'll make a great teacher.
spike427i love chocolate milk and iced water. yay for graduation!
alexHappy Christmas to you and your family!
runningjakeCongrats on graduation on the new job!! Taking a break between college and grad school isn't a bad thing. I only had three months in between, which I spent at an internship, and I was completely exhausted when I started!
runningjakeAbout the tips... I tend to like Germany's method much better (everything is included in the price upfront tip and taxes). Granted, the service definitely suffers because people don't have to work for their tip but it's so much easier when you're trying to plan ahead for cost purposes!

xcongrats!
meaganI saw this on someone else's blog and thought of you: "English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleys, knocks them over, and goes through their pockets for loose grammar."
