Saturday it was in the uppers 70s with high humidity. Miserable. Cold front came through early Sunday morning. Sunday night, temperatures were in the mid-30s. Nippy, but I like it. Temperature this morning in Charleston was 11 degrees. Brrrr.
Heading for the hills. Hope you and your family have a very nice holiday season. It's a nice time to use up some of the vacation from work, enjoy a little football (hoping the Mountaineers show up for their bowl game with North Carolina on the 27th), eat a little (okay, maybe more than a little), and try not to miss too many opportunities to catch a nap. And, it's also a time for thanksgiving for all of God's blessings ... Jesus sacrifice for us ... freedom to serve God ... the preservation of God's word ... life (physical and spiritual) ... a measure of health ... job ... family ... food on the table. So many things to be thankful for. It's the time when many are trying to make "Jesus the reason for the season," when in truth, He's the reason for every season.
Be safe and keep warm!! Go Mountaineers!! Brian and I considered going to the game(I'm 3 hours from Charlotte) but changed our minds. It didn't take long for the tickets to sell out. Have a wonderful holiday!!!
So much to be thankful for for sure. I'm glad ya'll had a safe trip & good visit. I wish everyone would have stayed healthy though. :( Love ya'll & looking forward to seeing you soon. :)
You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles' wings and brought you to Myself. Exodus 19:4
But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
The apostle Paul had his thorn in the flesh, and I've got my skeeters on the skin. Actually, I haven't been bitten for a few days, but the critters are around. Yesterday there was one that seemed to enjoy the Sunday drive to church. Never could get that thing to be stationary long enough to put the hurtin' on it.
Severe weather alert has been issued for the Houston area from 6:00 pm today to 9:00 am Friday for freezing rain. It was warm and muggy yesterday and this morning, but a cold front moved in about noon today. Who knows? We might get some more snowfall. Imagine those little skeeters all bundled up. I wonder if they have to de-ice before takeoffs like planes do?
Brian and I are planning to go to the Houston/Texas Bowl to watch Rice play whoever ... I think's it's Western Michigan. I'll have to check.
Snowed Wednesday night. Bridges and overpasses froze Thursday morning. Traffic delays. Snow gone by Thursday afternoon. Skeeters back on Friday. I kid you not. My little blood-sucking friends are back.
A lot of folks are still replacing roofs and fences after Hurricane Ike. Thursday morning. Snow on roofs. Roofing crew working on house with a good 2 inches of snow on it. Sight to behold. Remember, this is Houston, Texas.
Very ... very ... windy today. More of this and we might be able to challenge Chicago for the Windy City title.
The snow was pretty while it lasted. It completely covered the ground and the streets last night. But, with the temperature up in the 50s today, ole Frosty turned from a solid to a liquid.
Bridges this morning were a mess. Most people didn't make it to work until after 10:00. Broke out the cheeseball Joyce fixed about 11:00. Yum yum ... lick your thum'. Heard that one before? I doubt it ... cause I just made it up. :)
no, not girls yet...thank goodness!! He was all about pleo when he first started, but is currently not as interested. He is also a busy fella...archery, academic team, basketball. I will check his schedule and get back with ya :)
