Each day I'll do a golden deed by helping those who are in need My life on earth is but a span and so I'll do the best I can To be a child of God each day my light must shine along the way I'll sing His praise while ages roll and strive to help some troubled soul The only life that will endure is one that's kind and good and pure And so for God I'll take my stand each day I'll lend a helping hand While going down life's weary road I'll try to lift some traveler's load I'll try to turn the night to day make flowers bloom along the way.
These are lofty goals borrowed from a well loved favorite hymn.
My main goal is to be a better christian/husband/father/son/brother/uncle/friend in 2009 than I was in 2008.
Great goals. Super song. Much to do and so little time. You can do it my friend. Happy new year to you and yours. Tell Susan I missed her Wed. night. Great song leading!
Any big plans for your anniversary??? I always suggest a cruise! You just wouldn't believe the pampering and awesome food fare!!! They truly are luxurious!
Santa Claus has gone back to the North Pole to get ready for next year. That was a lot of fun and quite profitable...
Home Roasting Coffee is fun and easy! I gave some away to some folks that are special to me. I sent some more to my in-laws in Port Arthur and took some to my family. They are wanting to place orders now...
Going back to San Antonio on Monday for a couple days. I'll be covering for the guy in San Antonio while he's on vacation...that may be my last trip out of town for a long while...
The New Year brings high hopes and exciting new adventures for me and my household. We look forward to better days and prosperous times again.
We remain ever thankful for the blessings we enjoy.
How about you? What are your plans for the New Year?
---Edited for clarity---
After I re-read this post, I felt it needed some clarification...but i didn't want to re-write it so I fixed a couple things...hey it's MY blog I can change it anytime I want to!
Ed and I are very thankful for all of our blessings and are very hopeful for good things in the new year. We are working toward a new house and aiming our financial efforts in that direction to make it happen.
The Junior High Class - I am excited about teaching the junior high class this quarter. I've never done that before but I think we hit it off great this morning. They are a great group of kids. I look forward to getting to know them better. We are studying out of a David Banning book called SERMON NOTES. It's all about learning how to listen to a sermon and take notes and really understand what the preacher is saying. I think it will be a great study.
Prayer Life - Praying about some exciting opportunities that may come my way soon.
Home Roasted Coffee - I roasted mt first batch of coffee yesterday. I am enjoying some of the first batch right now. It's a blend called Puro Scuro from Sweet Marias. It's not bad for my first try. The flavor is amazing. So complex, not as bitter or burned tasting. I stopped it right in the middle of the 2nd crack. I think I'll let the next batch go a little longer though.
Santa Claus - Thats right Santa Claus. You still believe don't you? Well I do, I ought to, I AM Santa Claus. I got a side job putting on the suit and doing appearances as Santa Claus. It's fun and the pay is not bad either.
Are YOU Ready? - Excellent morning and evening sermons today by Kris.
Thanks. Hey, home roasted coffee sounds awesome. How do I get into that? And... I too am really excited about SERMON NOTES class with J.R. High. It will help them grow in all areas of worship. Thanks for teaching.
I have not tried the Puro Scuro blend from SM but the Monkey Blend is really good. I ordered 5# of it and it already gone what with gift giving and coffee bums.
I was thinking about changing my handle.
I was sittin there on the front row this morning, waiting to get up and help serve on the table. He was sitting next to me. That was a little creepy for me. Don't get me wrong, I'm proud of him, he's becoming quite handy in the worship service, waiting on the table, reading scripture and giving a Wednesday night invitation and all, I guess I'll get used to it though. he's a fine boy.
Anyway I was sittin there waiting to go up and Alan calls out 166 - He Loved Me So. This song touches me and makes me think of Jesus' love for me. He didn't HAVE to come here and live on this earth and die for me, but he did...
v3 shakes me from my deep thoughts and propels me to look forward to that great day when He comes back and I get to meet him face to face. Till then I'll sing His praise.
I was thinkin about changing my handle to, till_Jesus_comes_I'll_sing_His_praise but I think I'll stay with
Both are important daily messages. Isn't it great to "tremble" in worship. Maybe a Scripture, a song, or just the realization of what we're doing. Good post.
When you are leading singing how do you handle a congregation that slows down the tempo? I am moving to a congregation that has a lot of elderly folks where this is a problem.
I love good coffee. I love the aroma of fresh brewing coffee wafting through the house. That is what I'm smelling right now, the aroma of Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee wafting through the kitchen and the dining room down the hall to my desk. It's a slow drip pot so I know it's not ready yet but I anticipate a fine cup of coffee to enjoy on my way to the jobsite this morning.
How 'bout you?
Are you enjoying a cup of the Jamaican Blue?
I am enjoying a fine cup of Folgers Coffee House blend with a little classic decaf mixed in. Nothin' better . . . except maybe a Starbucks Caramel Mocha or a Starbucks Peppermint Mocha. :)
Ever try roasting your own? The three reasons I do it is: I like do it yourself projects; It is cheap. (Big Plus there) and I get to drink coffees from all over the world.
I use an old West Bend Poppery with 1500 watts of power. I also used a heat gun/breadmachine method. I use www.uroastem.com to get some of my green beans. Good Luck!
Jimmy and I both like the smell of coffee beans, but not the taste. So when we shop at the grocery store, we hug the shelves where the beans and grinder are kept.
Martin loves the Blue Mountain coffee. When we were in Jamaica Martin bought almost $100 worth! Still in bean form. Waiting to be ground and brew. How long does it last? It is in a tightly sealed container.
