I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use. ~Galileo Galilei
So while trying in vain for the umpteenth time to sync my IPhone with my new PC I managed to delete my entire contact list. Yep, all gone. And other than my parents' home number and 911, I don't know any other phone numbers. It's all Apple's fault. And maybe mine too. And Sparky's for ruining my last phone.
So... if you have my number, please/por favor/please-in-any-other-language call or text me so I'll have your number. And my number hasn't changed in 5+ years so whatever number you have for me is probably still good.
And for the record, while my IPhone and IPod are cool, for those who think that Apple/Mac is so superior to PC I respectfully suggest that all of you are delusional. And remember, denial is the first sign that you have a problem. :P
So call or text please at 867-5309. And no, that's not actually my number, nor is my name Jenny. But seriously, call or text me. Much obliged!
I have a blackberry curve, which I had to have replaced due to a speaker problem, and when I picked up my new one and dropped off my old one I had them delete everything on the old phone because I didn't want anyone getting into it. Thinking everything was ok becuase I backed it all up on my computer I didn't worry about deleting it all before restoring to my new phone. Then when I plugged my new phone into my computer the restore button wouldn't come up. I was so upset because, like you, I kept EVERYONE on my phone... business stuff, school stuff, everything stuff. Fortunately when I tried it again it worked fine! ha! I feel for you though!
Southwest is going great! What a fun company, and everyone is super nice. Being the new guy, I've been working all the time, which gets old. I've spent more than half of the nights in the last 4 months in various hotels in every corner of the lower 48. I'm based in Phoenix now, but still living with Mom and Dad and Ft. Worth, for now. I may move out to Phoenix and I may move somewhere else... haven't really made up my mind yet. But when you're gone half the time already, spending part of your time off commuting to and from work gets old. The good news with this whole seniority-based system is that as you get more senior you work less, and get paid more. Maybe that's not the ideal system for productivity, but that's the way it is.
But after almost a year off, it's really nice to be flying again, and even better just to have a job again! Be sure to look up front for me next time you fly (since I KNOW you wouldn't fly any other airline but us!).
Not too much else going on. I did finally get my house in GA rented for at least a year a couple of months back. Having a blast when I'm off work spending time with my neices. Was thinking about buying a jet ski but Sparky wrecked it. Going down to Houston this weekend to see neice #3 and for the Kleinwood singing.
and to see Kelli this weekend :) How did you forget that? :) My niece is so precious, Aaron! Now I know why you go crazy over your nieces :) See you soon!
I think your phone wants you to call me cuz it totally called me twice in the past few weeks at obsure times and when I pick up... its just random noise...
We sure enjoyed our visit with you and sorry we missed you the last time. Come stay with us anytime!! A base out of ABQ wouldn't be so bad, would it????
sounds like you have been busy too! I dont fly very often, but I will see if its you next time I do!!! I'm glad you got the house taken care of, I'm sure that was a big relief!
So I finally finished training today! I'm officially a Southwest First Officer now! I'm SOOO ready to get out of this hotel which as been home for the last 6 weeks... although I don't really have a home to go to yet. I'm prob going to be crashing with my folks when I'm not working, at least until I decide where I want to live and find a place. Any suggestions? I'm open for any place with a real airport, and that isn't Warner Robins, GA, or Ft.Worth, TX (no offense to my fam and friends in those places...).
My truck is all back from the repair shop, but I've been using Dad's old truck cuz no one would ever steal that. My house still hasn't sold or been rented yet. My niece Hannah just turned 7. That's about all my news.
I'm about 2 months or more behind on phone calls, emails, and even further behind on keeping up with Pleo, so sorry about that. Trying to figure out how to fly as a civilian has been more intense that figured.
My first trip is a 4-day starting this Sunday with overnights in Chicago, Seattle, and San Diego. Then I'll be flying mostly out of Houston next month and prob Oakland for awhile starting in May. Look for me up front when you fly Southwest!
Southwest huh? I hear a lot of great things about working for that airline. I work for Piedmont, grrr. They made me mad yesterday. They Jr. Manned me and I can't do anything about it. Does Southwest do that to their employees? If you're looking for a place to live I recommend living at your base otherwise, Charlotte is a really nice airport, not too many delays compared to Chicago and NY. I live here but will be relocating to my base in Roanoke, VA. VA has a small airport and it's really country and pretty there. I'm looking forward to the change. Good luck with everything. If you have any questions about bases, airports, cities, just ask. I'll be glad to help you out.
i am flying to phoenix on thursday night around 7:40 ish-you should pick up that flight and then I will come and sit with you and be your copilot and then maybe we can actually catch up and yeah I can't believe hannah is 7. so crazy-more crazy that I sound like an old person saying that I can't believe she is 7. And what is even more crazy is that a girl with a minor in english probably just used one of the worlds longest run on sentences and didn't even really care about. oh lovely blogging. I said blogging. cheerio.
Steve Hoffman asked about you Sunday - only I didn't realize he'd said "Aaron." Don't know what he said, but I said, "Who?" He laughs and says, "You know, Aaron, tall guy, just left a couple of months ago..." Funny people...But I still have to say I don't know about you. Where are you? Give us an update, and I'll let Steve know! I noticed your friend above mentions Phoenix. A young couple I met in Germany were just assigned to Phoenix. They have a 2 year old and one on the way. He's going to OSI school in GA right now. Do you know anything about the congregations there or know anyone who does that I can pass on to them? Take care - hope you're well!!
So sad that you are in the same state as me right now and we can't even hang out - well, I guess I can wait 2 1/2 weeks to see you :) Have a great day!
So, I sit on the plane on Monday morning and in comes this pilot to sit next to me...anyways, he was trying to make small talk with me - very friendly - and he said that he was headed to KC to start his day of flying - they had to call him in to work that day...anyway, I asked him if he knew you (figuring that he didn't), but he did...he went through training with you! How cool is that?!?!
Alright, well, I hope you're having a good week! See you on Sunday morning!
We're so glad you have finally landed only to take off again. Greetings from the Yontzes. Terry and Kalyn had a baby boy (Kolby David) Wednesday. (May 28) Hope all is well with you. Darrel
Hello there Aaron! How are you? Travis & Jasmine are graduating today!! Party for Travis at the Petersons afterwards. Wish you could be here! The Hofmanns and Luffmans are getting ready to move. Party for them on Sunday at the Ivies. Take care!
I'm reminded of a cartoon I saw in the paper. A skeleton sat at his desk with the phone at his ear. The caption read, "He was left on hold." Your friends are on hold!
Hey I know you have a great new job flying around the country, and i know that you do get some time off because you told me. So why don't you post and let us know how everything is going. =) Hope all is well.
Garrett Hofmann obeyed the gospel today! They get packed up Wednesday, loaded up Friday, and heading to NV either Friday evening or Saturday morning. Hope you're doing okay.
They found my truck this afternoon (Tues). I have no idea what kind of shape it's in, but it's the Dallas city pound until I can find time to get there and have it towed somewhere for repair (assuming it's not in too bad of shape).
Hi Aaron! I'm glad they found your truck. I told the folks last night at Taylor's b/d party - Persalls, Hefners, Luffmans, Ivies, - the ones who didn't know. They felt for you. Something like Texas not liking your truck was said... I know that surprises you. I do hope, hope, hope your truck is not in bad shape.
So far training at Southwest is going good, mostly still just orientation. I wish I could adequately put in to words what a fabulous place it is to work at. We're consistently ranked in the top 5 national companies to work at, and all you'd have to do is walk in the front to see why. Maybe I'll expand on that later...
But, what I'm blogging about this time is my truck. My beloved Dodge Ram. She was stolen. Again. From Dallas. Again. This time from the hotel parking lot where I'm staying. Last time was couple years ago in downtown Dallas, and the police found it later the same day with $3,000 or so damage, but nothing major. Kind of frustrating. I'll let you know when I hear more.
Ugh! That is so terrible! I'm sorry to hear that Aaron! Maybe they will take your Bible again and (HOPEFULLY) read it! Hope you continue to enjoy SOuthwest!
glad work is going well...sorry your truck was stolen again! On the other hand who can say "My truck was stolen...again"? Hope it is found soon and undamaged!
sounds like you need to not spend so much time in Dallas :( Sorry about your truck! But, glad you are enjoying the job so far! And, it was great to talk to you the other day!
You poor guy. I know it's a nice vehicle, but WHY would someone steal something that requires a lot of money to fill with gas????? How are you getting back and forth to work? Or orientation, should I say? Was watching Extreme Makeover for the Home Sun night. They were helping out a family in Louisville KY. One of the guys flew to Nashville - guess what airline he flew?? But I am truly sorry about your truck. Get a clunker next time. Of course clunkers are not befitting pilots, I'm sure - kind of like an Extended Stay hotel, where you have to take out your own trash - LOL, LOL, LOL!
Poor Aaron! Mom called ot tell me and I was so bummed for you. You're going to dread coming to Dallas (maybe you should come to Houston instead). Maybe you should drive a 20-year old Honda like me and no one else wants to drive it except you. It's a great strategy. Luv you! Sooooo sorry!
That's Dallas for ya! Perhaps you could use this to convince Southwest to move further west to this side of town, and then you would be even closer! Mom just called, said they found your truck! Yay, I think! Hope the damage isn't too bad!
