1. I had to miss our Singing School cuz I was sick. I just ran to the Community Center and brougt food and went back home and got in bed. I was very sad.

2. Reese is still coughing with no other symptoms. It sounds TERRIBLE. Matt is taking her back to the Dr tomorrow.

3. My mom is very sick. Bronchial stuff. Pray for her. She is supposed to call dr again tomorrow.

4. Thanksgiving was great. We had lunch at my mom's sister's house. Then went to in-laws to help put up their tree.

5. My tree is up. Reese decorated it, so lots of ornaments are one her eye level! oh well...its cute.

6. Our church building is put back together now. We have pews. It turned out very nice and we are getting new curtains! We also took out the back 2 pews on each side so that everyone will be forced to move up!

7. Tuesday is his birthday...he is going to be 28!

8. My sweet husband brought us home donuts for breakfast this morning. What a yummy treat!

Last Nite! 11-16-08 08:18am CST
Last night contained two firsts for me.

1) I attended a Murder Mystery Dinner at the historic Kirby Hill House in Kountze. FUN. I didn't figure out who-dun-it, but I did figure out some parts.

2) After that, I went and rode-along with Matt for about an hour and a half. WOW. Thankfully it wasnt too busy. It was very interesting to see him in his element.

Reese spent the night with Poppa and Mim..of course they spoiled her. But she had fun.

Soccer is going well...just one more game! I think we are all getting tired of it. 10 weeks is alot for a 4/5 y/o team. They are all getting trophies this week. Cute.

Have a great week.
~Traci~
aletaI've heard of people doing murder mysteries in their homes. I've wondered if I could put something like that together. What do you think?

And riding along with Matt? Wow! That would be an interesting thing indeed!
tgatzajr..."see him in his element"......Honda Element? (just kidding) :-)
bahUm, I will not tell you what I got Alisha (well not right now because she is watching me type) and no he didn't tell me what he got her. I would guess a fourwheeler or something though.
blueeyesI love Murder Mystery Dinners!

I hope everyone can come! We'll be learning lots of new songs and singing out of our supplemental book as well as our Hymns for Worship.

stolen from kensi's blog!
tgatzajrSorry, I'll be in Houston that weekend. :-/ But I'll pass the word around the congregation.

I would suggest anybody that needs hotel reservations to start looking now. It may be difficult to find one. The area hotels are booked with contract workers and displaced families
aletaThis sounds so inviting but is so hard for us on a Saturday. I know it will go well.

Good Morning! 11-02-08 08:25am CST
YAY! What a pretty morning...a beautiful Lord's Day!

We are about to go to worship in our church building with no pews, pigtail lights and no ceiling tiles (or atleast that's how it was on Wednesday)! BUT, no worries, God will be in our midst no matter the state of the building. Isn't that simply amazing. We are under construction from hurricane Ike. We lost our roof and several patches of ceiling. We also had sheetrock damage in the classroom area. We are all going to bring lawn chairs to sit in.

Parenting Question: Reese did not score any goals at her soccer game yesterday and was very upset! She cried her eyes out. How can I teach her to be a good loser? She wears her heart on her sleeve and was just upset, but at the same time I don't want her to cry and act out just because she didn't do well. HELP???

This is the first time we've experienced this. She has scored atleast one goal at every other game. She doesn't act like that when she loses board games. We never 'let her win' for this very reason. Any advice would be appreciated. This website is a good resource for this kind of thing.

traci

jenI dunno about the not winning problem...our kids' teams lose consistently so they are pretty used to it. They really get psyched when they win though!
aletaI had forgotten about the fact that your building was so damaged. Glad it's under repair.

About Reese's reaction, here's what I'd do if she were mine. You can take it for what it's worth. I would calmly tell her the things you probably already did, like, it's okay to lose, and she did her best and that's all that matters, etc.

But then I'd tell her that she will have to go to her room and away from you and Matt because you don't want to see that kind of ugly behavior about losing. She can pout and be mad at herself all she wants, but you don't want to see it. Nobody likes to be around a sore loser. When she decides that losing is not worth being isolated, she'll adjust her attitude, but if she is allowed to go on and pull responses from you and Matt, she may keep it up.

Her sensitivity of feelings will serve her well in years to come. This type of reaction, though, gives you an opportunity to guide her into seeing what kind of reactions are not acceptable. She's not really disobeying, so you don't want to punish her; but she also needs to know what others prefer not to witness. It'll build her character, too.
missyThat sounds like good advice!
kayla2006She was so cute on the soccer field! She was running her little heart out! I'm so glad I got to see her play. It was great seeing ya'll! Love ya'll!
aletaSounds like your gentle guidance helped her. Maybe she thought you'd be mad and so she just got mad and upset before you could(!), but you helped her see the right perspective. Reese sounds like a sweety and I hope we all get to meet someday.
bahI remember once you crying about a box...but that really has nothing to do with this post.
tgatzajrHmmm...advice is always hard to give. Knowing Little Reese's personality would make it easier. I remember our girl's going through many tough and trying times when they were little (and when they were older.) Be compassionate but also firm if she becomes hardheaded about it. (I can't imagine her being hard headed, not little Reese)! :-)
memyselfandiYou're right. It is the 18th. I changed it, don't know what I was thinking.
missyNo, but it would be cool to! Maybe someday.

My Little Soccer Team 10-18-08 06:52pm CST
....has improved dramatically since the first game! We don't keep score...but (we won)...ssshhh.

Reese is doing so well. She has really surprised us with this talent. We are very proud of her. We didn't think she would like soccer at all and she LOVES it. She scored 5 goals today!

Not much else is going on around here. We had a garage sale for our school and raised over $700! We are going to try to get new playground equipment. Now to find volunteers to build it.

Prayer request: My poor daddy is working 7-12s at night and he's tired. Pray that ExxonMobil gets back online asap so he can get a day off. And my aunt Tammy is going in for surgery at the end of the month.

That's all I have...hope you have a blessed Lord's day tomorrow.
aletaReese is some player! Does she know Reece is a sports expert, too!
blueeyesWow! Five goals! Soccer sounds like a lot of fun!
aletaGene laughed when I told him what Jordan calls your Reese. :) I think I'd call her the Sweet Reese!
tgatzajrI bet she is a cutie running after the soccer ball! These little stories make me remember my girls when they were little and experiencing new things. Funny, it makes me sad but it make me smile!

Hopefully ExxonMobil has enough sense not to wear the guys out. At CPChem, we are offering the guys a day or two off if they need it. Exhausted workers tend to get hurt and can hurt others. I'll keep him in my prayers. I know what he is going though!
bahUncle Mobil not being very nice right now...
crazyttuguyWhy thank you!
kayla2006Thats awesome! I'm coming home the Oct 31! SO I will get to see ya'll on Sunday! Sorry to hear about your dad
partygirl10122Things have improved dramticly thanks to counciling.
tgatzajrIf I sound like your dad, he must be a very wise man! :-)
SS is a good thing. It is just a shame that teachers, who give so much for so little are denied a benefit that their household is required to pay into.
That's another reason I chose to vote for the Constitution Party. SS should be privatized so that this sort of thing can be overcome.
BTW, we are having a gospel meeting next week with Tony Ripley. Sunday thru Thursday. Weeknights at 7:30
tgatzajrOh yeah, here's one that will get your dad going...No since in giving Social Security benefits to teachers when you can give it to illegal aliens.
