Do you ever feel inadequate? Have you ever felt like God wanted you to do something but you didn't feel like you were qualified to do it? Join the club. You are in good company. Moses and Gideon felt the same way.
God spoke to Moses through a burning bush. Think about it. First of all it's God speaking. You would think that he would just automatically believe that what He says is right and true. The Lord also gave him some miraculous signs to demonstrate Himself to him. He turned a rod into a snake and then back again. You would think that would think that would be enough. Not for Moses. Then Moses said to the Lord, Oh my Lord, I am not eloquent neither before nor since you have spoken to your servant but I am slow of speech and slow of toungue. (Exodus 4:10 NKJV). Moses felt so inadequate. He really wanted to say to God, "Send someone else.". His words came out this way: Oh Lord, please send by the hand of whomeever else you may send (Exodus 4:13). God was a bit angry with him, but told him that Aaron would be along to help. God is so patient with us as we struggle with our inadequacy and fear.
God was looking for someone to deliver the people of Isresl again years later and chose Gideon. And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him and said to him, The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor! (Judges 6:12) God wanted Gideon to know that He was sending him out with power. The Lord turned to to him and said, "Go in this might of yours, and you shall save Isresl from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not sent you? (Judges 6:14). God does use unlikely people. Vision didn't feel like he was the guy. He felt he had reasons not to be God's mighty leader. Oh my Lord, how can I save Isresl? Indeed my clan is the weakest in Manasseh and I am the least of my fathers house. (Judges 16:15). Gideon was so unsure and insecure that he had God make a fleece wet, then dry, and so on. God was so patient with Gideon to help him with his insecurity. God does use unlikely people. Look at the 12 that Jesus picked to be his apostles. Look at other leaders through scripture. All of this should be conforting to you and me. If we feel inadequate that is good because we will be totally dependabt on God and God will get all the gloryvfor what he is able to do through people like us! |

as most of you know Renee' and the boy's left today for Disney. I didn't want to to be at home alone for a week so me and Hannah (my dog, but don't let her know that she's a dog) hit I-10 west and we are at the deer ranch for 8 day's. I love being here at the ranch. I love the solitude. I love not having to fight traffic. I love that one of my cell phones don't work here. I can sit in a deer stand for hours and think about how I can be a better father, a better husband, a better Christian, and a better friend. Renee' say's that is too long to have to think but that is my type A personality or so I've been told by my (AU) buddy which I miss daily. When Sunday came around I had a choice to go 30 to the west to what we might call a conservative congration where the friendyness is even worse than the preaching but we do consider them a conservative congration or I could go 30 min. to the east to a congration that we would consider it a liberal congration. There the preaching is exciting, there are a mix of young and old there. The one thing that we would make them liberals is that they support childrens homes. Anyway until next time, Steve. |

We have seen around 30 hogs near our house at one time. To a grass farmer they are one of our worst enemy. So we built a trap loaded it with corn and now our mexcans are haveing tamales.

Yesterday, my oldest son Dustin who is 15 took his first flying lesson and I think he loved it. When he got home he had a smile from ear to ear. I was working out in my field and him and the pilot that he was flying with buzzed us about 30 feet off the ground.
