And Can It Be That I Should Gain - Wesley / Campbell 12-04-08 09:19pm CST
HUG Time!

I've just added another "oldie" to our "Hymns Unto God" website. A few weeks ago I stumbled across this one on the web. As I was looking at it, my wife lurked over my shoulder and said that this was a pretty song. Then she said that the music was different but the lyrics were the same. Evidently there is a newer song floating around with Wesley's lyrics.

I really liked this one. Not only did the melody stick in my head but I thought that the lyrics were very thought provoking. Wesly wrote six verses for this one but I chose only three. I had a few problems with a couple of the others. Anyway, I think this one is a beauty. The lyrics are 270 years old and the music are 180 years old.

They really wrote some goood stuff back then!

Enjoy!

this_old_manI love the words! I was getting leg cramps a lot and my pharmacist told that my cholesterol medicine may be causing it.

That's the expected startup update.

We are in the process of bringing gas into the units and cycling the reactors. In the mean time the work load just picked back up as the managers are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I'll be glad when things are back to just the normal chaos....
adamandjessesdadGreat news!
this_old_manHooray! Now you can get back to important stuff like roasting coffee! :)
mamamiaWow ... y'all have been down for quite awhile.
agdad23That's Great! Only a little over 6 months until Hurricane Season.

The Twins / Desktop BSD 12-01-08 07:28am CST
A man was taking his wife, who was pregnant with twins, to the hospital when his car went out of control and crashed. Regaining consciousness, he saw his brother, a relentless practical joker, sitting at his bed side.

He asked his brother how his wife was doing and his brother said, "Don't worry, everybody is fine and you have a son and a daughter. But the hospital was in a real hurry to get the birth certificates filed and since both you and your wife were unconscious, I named them for you."

The husband was thinking to himself, "Oh no, what has he done now?" and asked with some trepidation, "Well, bro, what did you name them?"

Whereupon, his brother replied, "I named the little girl Denise."

The husband, relieved, said, "That's a lovely name! And what did you come up with for my son?"

The brother winked and replied, "Denephew."

OK since you suffered through that...

I reloaded XP this week on my desktop because it was severly trashed out and afterward I loaded Desktop BSD (dual boot). This is a FreeBSD distro designed for easy installation and use. Boy was it ever! The install went without a hitch. It seems that the BSD world is KDE oriented and I have been a Gnome user for many years. I think it is going to be nice to do things a little different for a while.

The package installer is a little slower than Debian's synaptic, but it did pretty well. I had one glitch installing Gimp. Since it is GTK based I had to install all the librarys. That took about a half hour. When it was finished, there was some kind of library problem and GIMP would not run. Bummer!. There was another GIMP port that was forked to resemble Photoshop in it's functionality. I loaded that one and it installed quickly and without a problem. After that I tried two or three other packages and installation went smoothly.

I have noticed that my hard drive doesn't "crank" as much. I don't know if this because of BSD or because of KDE. Anyway.....Got a new toy....and it didn't cost a dime and that's the best kind!
adamandjessesdadI heard that as a Cajun joke, rather than a practical joker. Congrats on the new toy! I could maybe get you a job doing that sort of thing for a living someday.
this_old_manHave you ever read "The Jungle Book" By Kipling? Great read.

Happy Turkey Day ..... The One That Got Away 11-26-08 08:47pm CST

Personally I prefer dark meat over Lite meat....
this_old_manHappy Turkey Day!!! How is your BBQ'ed bird?
jocHappy Thanksgiving to you!
ceoltoirIt took me a second to find the turkey. Hilarious!
ceoltoirAnd if you end up old and in a nursing home and in front of daytime t.v., call me. I'll come change the channel.
viarostultegaHappy turkey day to you too. I also prefer the dark meat over the light. As for rpm's versus debs, I've got it set-up so I can use both. Both Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server are the two Linux OS's we support on our systems, so it's easier for me to develop tools in a similar environment. Aside from that, I'd have to agree with you.
viarostultegaI've heard of it, but I've never actually used it.
