Here are the highlights!

... Went to a Taiko (Japanese drums) concert.
... Celebrated Leap Year with a cake.
... Danny went to Malaysia while we went to Six Flags.
... Went to see the movie Expelled.
... Complained about the Summer reading books. We managed.
... North Georgia Camp.
... Trip to Virginia--DC, Shanendoah Mts., Luray Caverns, DC,
Friends.
... New Jersey Camp for the boys, Gettysburg for Danny and me.

There were also birthdays to be celebrated and sicknesses to be overcome. With God's help we made it through another year.
What will happen in 2009? We've made some plans, but only God knows for sure!

Yes, we are still celebrating birthdays this week. Today is my mom's birthday. I am so thankful that she is here and that all of her children will be here tonight to celebrate with her. It's becoming harder for all of us to get together now that grandchildren are starting up families of their own. We'll be missing two of the grandchildren and their spouses who are unable to come. We always feel that it is a special time when all five of the children make it at the same time.
This week, we've celebrated an anniversary and three birthdays. After tomorrow we can relax and wait for the new year!
I am enjoying having the boys home! Two weeks is not enough! |

Just to get rid of the old one. We are heading into our last week of school for the year. This time of year is so hectic. Yesterday, we decided that Tuesday should be a half day at school so that students could study for the Wednesday finals. The rest of the finals have that opportunity so why not the day before? We sure would be happy. Maybe I should start a petition.
The boys have something going every night thru the weekend. There is a weekend Bible study this weekend followed by the monthly teen devotional after services Sunday. There is a lock-in planned for the teenagers for New Years Eve. I need to get them signed up. They'll enjoy seeing their friends from FC camp. It starts at 10 PM!
We still aren't sure what we are going to do in the two weeks we have off. Surely there will be some down time.
Have a great week everybody!! :) |

As a mother, I've always liked that sentiment. Before children, I don't think I totally appreciated that verse, but now there are serveral times in my life where I sit back and watch my children. Today was such a day for me.
Today, my sons took part in the passing out of the communion at services. This is a first time for both to participate in the worship service. As I have thought about this, there have been so many things for which I am thankful. I am thankful that they have chosen to become christians. I am thankful that not only are the able, but they are also willing and desiring to take part in the worship service. I'm thinkful for all the Christian influences they have had among this family at Embry Hills. I am thankful for all the encouraging words I got from different people afterwards, and I know they spoke encouraging words to my sons.
There were some things missing. Their dad was out of town worshipping in Washington. I wish he could have been here. I also thought about an elder that has served for 25 years that wasn't able to come. He is in the hospital suffering from pneumonia and cancer. The boys have been in his home numerous times.
But their granddaddy was here. I was so glad. It filled my heart to know that my dad was able to see his grandsons willing to start their service in a public way. It made me think of a song that we have started singing at Embry Hills.
The Army of Our Lord (I can't determine who the author is)
O men of age, O men of youth,
Lift up your idle swords;
Come fight with us who fight for truth:
The Army of our Lord.
Our Lord sees every Christian die,
And feels each dying breath,
And calls out from a field nearby.
"Be faithful unto death."
Our elders, long in battle years,
Alas, begin to fade;
But from the ranks, young men appear
And lead their first crusade.
Our brethren, dead beneath the plain,
Whose spirits never died,
Rise up to march and shout again,
"O Christ, be glorified!"
"O Christ, be glorified!"
And the best thought of all is that this is all possible because of our Lord. To God be the glory!

I may disappear off the computer soon. A virus has slowly been reeking havoc on my computer. We've tried fighting, but apparently this one is going to win the battle. We have two "virus protection" programs which right now do not make me very happy. This virus is now halting our chances of upgrading the protection when there are new updates, and it constantly turns off the shields that are in place. One program will not even allow me to turn the shields back on even on a temporary basis.
Today I have tried to go to the websites of these programs, and it won't allow me to go that route. I'm afraid to buy another upgrade online because it may stop it. Google searches send you somewhere else.
Tonight, it won't allow me on to my AOL account. At first I thought it was AOL, but when I tried my husbands name and password, it let me through. I may should not have done it, because he normally doesn't use this computer, so now IT has his password or will soon....I guess.
So, I don't know what to do. I'm trying one last time to do a virus sweep. It's currently showing two viruses, but the last time I tried this, the scan locked up before it completed the total scan and then left me no option to quarantine the ones it had found in the first few seconds of scanning.
Rant, rant, rant! Thanks for listening.
-------
Update: Well, I decided to download a whole new virus protection program and run it. It found 14 spyware/viruses, 4 of which were high risk. I've deleted them. Now to see if the computer acts any better! Hey, it's a 30 day money back product.
